Breaking SDHC Card with my Arduino

Hey together,

I have a big problem and dont know why.

I'm using a SD Card board (http://www.exp-tech.de/Shields/Speicher/I-O-POD-microSD-Card.html?XTCsid=1d5851c3df4455dee8d0e45901e87f7e).

When I'm writing onto it via my Arduino Pro Mini, it works for some time. But eventually the card fails (3 cards so far). I cannot use it with the Arduino, PC or smartphone anymore. Two of the three cards even get extremely hot when inserted into the slot.

Now my question:
Does anyone know why this happens?

regards Menico

Hi Menico
I am only new to Arduino.
My suggestion is make sure you are using the 3.3v supply pin for the SD card not the 5V supply pin as this will cook the SD Card.
Hope this may help.
Cheers
