Bringing a robot to "life" with a LED-matrix mask

Hi,

I am completely new to the platform and the Arduino/LED sphere.
For one of my art-projects, I am looking for a way to visualize a face onto a LED-matrix.
My idea goes like this:

  • Live spoken and singing vocals go through a wireless microphone headset which I'm wearing.
  • Audio input is connected to speech recognition software and controls an animation of a face (lip-sync).
  • Animation gets streamed to Resolume for further audio reactive processing.
  • Resolume maps to Arduino (DIY Pixel Lab - Resolume)
  • Arduino outputs the data to the LED-matrix.
  • Matrix is installed so I can wear it, positioned in front of my face, inside a super cool robot helmet.
  • Boom! Norton is alive.

Anyways, my question is if anyone on the platform can recommend me some LED-matrixes that are interesting for this project. I'm also looking for a way to have this matrix wearable.

Let me know!

Kind regards, Lawrence

Lots of useful information about RGB matrices even if you do not plan on buying from Adafruit. The following a couple of many RGB LED projects.
