Yes, that's the offender I'm afraid. I had an inkling that it wasn't a quality piece of kit, but it looks like it might be good enough for what I need now (now the helpful folk here have helped me to establish the high voltage isn't a problem under load). It's currently powering an Arduino Mega 2560 board and a bluetooth adapter quite nicely. I'll do more testing before I try to run anything else off it.
