Im new to this forum and i have a project i am looking to do which is to manage as well as display the temperatures 7+ vivariums containing various reptiles.
The reading and displaying the temps should be fine for me, but here is the snag.
I have become very fond of the microclimate/habistat pulse propotianal thermostats. and i was wondering (with the right additional components) if the arduino could act as a hub of stats instead of having 7 seperate stat units?
Any one got any ideas if it is possible/been done?
Welcome.
Yes, but not wishing to put a downer on your enthusiasm, have you considered that if one of your stats fail, you only lose 1/7th of your collection?
Solid state relays (SSRs) and some Dallas single wire temperature sensors or similar.
Probably double-up on everything, for redundancy, maybe even triple-up, with a majority voting scheme.
Yes, do-able, but make sure you test thoroughly before going "live" ("live", "vivarium", geddit?)
Just out of interest, how much do the current stats cost each?
