Building a do sensor from scratch

Hello

I want to measure dissolved oxygen in a fish pond continuously. Atlas Scientific offers a really good sensor it seems but as I am located in Brazil, getting it imported doubles the price so it becomes very expensive. I saw some breakdown of a sensor, which basically are two electrodes. Would it be possible to develop a sensor from scratch and develop my on sensor? Are they opensource schematics of a dissolved oxygen sensor?

I guess it depends on your abilities - you need to research how such sensors work and then see if you think you could make one .
I guess google is a good place to start .

This sort of thing :

Interesting project. Would be curious to see how this progresses. I used to have a salt-water aquarium in the past (reef, fish+corals), and back then my understanding was that one needs constant water motion/agitation to enable the fish to breathe. Recent articles I've read say that one must target a 'specific' DO range. Too little DO is not good (fish will suffocate), and too high a DO is not good either (creates other issues).
