Building A large automated car robot using arduino parts

  1. 4 small A.T.V tires
  2. Remote control from at least 6km away
  3. wifi
  4. camera
  5. the Length of the frame is 5ft breath is 5ft
  6. the total weight of the robot should be 30kg
  7. the robot should be able to reach speed of 20 km per hour
Hello, greetings its always been my dream to participate in the robotics world. i would like to build an automated car robot i have a back ground in programming but i have a solid background in programming
i hope you can pls take some time out of your busy day to help me with the information i need. Above is a list of the parts my robot need pls help me in how to get started

so i am taking a welding class to build the frame of the small vehicle

Generally not possible for civilians, without clear line of sight, and may not even be legal in your area.

You need a lot more research and data.
Start by reading the pinned post re 'How to get the best from this forum'
6Km will be a huge technical challenge, but not nearly as bad as the legal problems you will have if something goes wrong.
What you have is a wish list. You have months if not years of work to do.

Start by building a micromouse line follower robot.

Due to the potential risks and serious consequences of failure, I strongly recommend against pursuing this project unless you have someone who is willing to assume full legal responsibility. Ensure this agreement is documented in writing for your protection.

I am taking necessary step towards the legal aspect of it, But it will take me a year and a lot of cash to even build my first prototype. I would like to know where to start what i would need?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I would do that right this instant

I do have some one, But pls i still would like to try and build it where would i start?

Hi kingprest,
can you explain a bit more, what is the idea behind? What should this car do? What is the background for specs like e.g. 30kg, 20km/h and this 6km.

Beside of the already given hints, start with the clear definition of the target and a good explaination, for what reason it is worth to spend a lot of work for that target.

This is well beyond the scope of any hobby class project.

Look at mobility scooters for an idea of what motor(s) and batteries to use.

For 6 Km range, look at GPRS/cell service.

Since you have a background in programming, you might take a look at the well engineered Pololu 3Pi 2WD robot, which has several useful sensors (bump sensors, optical sensors, an inertial navigation/crash sensor, wheel encoders and an electronic compass) and would serve a practical basis for learning how to steer and navigate, detect objects, control motor speed, etc.

The 3Pi is analogous to the micromouse mentioned above.

I seriously wonder the percentage of these "wireless car and actuate relay at 4km" projects are not just to turn on an LED.

Perhaps your background is trying to tell you not to begin programming before the hardware has been designed and tested.

I’m curious why an ‘autonomous’ vehicle needs a ‘control’ tether from 6km away,
It won’t add anything to the autonomy, or it was a bad choice of words.

What is the goal of the project.?
