Building a simple digital clock with Arduino

Hi Everyone, I am new to Arduino-world. I have prior experience with programming and know basics of electronics. I have a Arduino uno board, bunch of resistors and a basic 4-digit 7-segment display (YSD-439AB4B-35). I'm planning to build a digital clock which counts time by second. It doesn't need to be running all the time (i.e. I don't need RTC and battery). Can you please direct me how do I start about this project?

My goal is to build Arduino-skills by simple projects. Any kind of advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Write some code to display digits on the 7-segments.

Then look at the time library's examples on how it tracks time.

Then combine the two.
