Building the Ardumoto Shield

Hey guys,

I am a CS guy with very little electronics knowledge. I have a arduino motor shield. The thing is i have no idea on how to build it. I googled but i can't seem to find any resources on how to build it. Can anyone explain to me what do i need and how to build it?

I am trying to control 2 dc motors to build a simple differential drive robot.

Part in question is sparkfun's ardumoto board.

Thanks.

It didn't come with a schematic of some sort?

Schematics at:- http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Robotics/Ardumoto_v12.pdf

Put all the bits on the board and solder it up.

the thing is i have already seen the schematics but what i am looking for is a more detailed explanation cause i did not understand much from the schematics.

No offence meant, but you probably bought the wrong module for your level of experience. Because it is a specific custom built module you are not likely to find detailed instructions about how to wire it up to your motor(s), the Arduino and any external voltage source required. You could contact SparkFun and see if they have anything that could help you.

As an example here is different motor shield offering that has much more documentation on how to hook up and use it:
