Buon Giorno from Terry King

Hello to the group. Please excuse my lack of Italian.. I am starting to work on it.

I am from Vermont, USA but I will be moving to Genova in September and will live there for 2 years at least.

I am very involved with Arduino, with websites such as:
http://arduino-info.wikispaces.com
and
https://arduino-direct.com/sunshop/

I would like to meet people who are interested in Arduino and electronics in the Genova area. Please tell me if there are any active groups for Arduino, or other "Maker" or "Hacker" groups. My wife Mary Alice will be teaching at the International School in Genoa, and we will be living a little East along the shoreline.

Thank you for listening...hope to meet some of you!

Regards, Terry King

Perché sei lento... XD XD X

I envy you and your home: SOOOOOOO beatiful... You live in a VERY speciale place. I like nature and I would live in a place like that... =(

welcome Terry

I live in Rome. I hope you will meet some arduino users in genova!
Also remember that italy is a lot smaller than usa and do a meeting is easy!
Good luck and sorry 4 my bad english!

BuonaSera,

I am finally in Genoa, in Sturla, in between Genova and Nervi. Wonderful place. Photos here:

Does anyone know of any Arduino group or people in Genova area? Quick searches didn't find any, but not searching in Italiano... Any Universities here doing microcomputer work?

Is there a list anywhere that relates Electronics or Arduino terms in Italiano and English? I hope to teach some workshops and I would like to learn some terms from the Old Country of Arduino.

Thank you, and I am very happy to be in Italy the next 2+ years!

Eletronics in italian is elettronica, but generally that means high power science, like 220Vac, relè and so on
mybe you should look for elettrotecnica, it is the science of resistor, capacitor and so on.

Maybe in Genova you can find some hacklab or similar, or you can start one of your own. Try to find some "centri sociali" (social centre), occupied place where people organize their activities in the daytime, and party on the night...
for example this is one occupied hacklab: http://www.ecn.org/sh404/ (i don't know if it still alive)

Some advice: more you go near France, better place you'll find, and some free beach. also Toscana is a great region near you, the park of Cornelle is one of the best in my advice.

I live in Milan, and sooner or later you'll came here, everyone does 8) and maybe we will meet

Ciao,
:astonished:

Hi Terry,
lesto was wrong, i mean "elettronica" is the microcontroller and ICs scienze while "elettrotecnica" is the high voltage science.

Welcome to Italy, i hope you'll be fine here

Unlucky i'm not from Genoa, too, i'm on the Garda lake but i'll go living in Forlì soon.

I'm interested for your shop, where do you ship from?
Don't you have original arduinos too?

A little tip: the good season is almost over so don't think too much about eletronic for now and go to the beach :stuck_out_tongue: you'll have the long and cold winter for your projects

superlol, you have written scienze instead "sciences"

Welcome to Italy, Terry! I'm sure you'll find many Arduino experts here. Probably hacklabs are the easiest places to find them. Good luck!

P.S.= probably you know "social centres" as far-Left-anarchist squatter community...

woops my bad

Terry , you have mail.

ATTENTION - there is Comunist

no, there are some that are pseudo-fascist, like the Cuorenero at milan, but normally they are anarchist.

Eddai raga.... non buttatela sulla politica mi speventate il nuovo arrivato

Buon giorno Terry!
I don't read/write Italian, but I do google translate at times if something catches my eye
Try a PM to Leo72, he is in Italy as well and I have helped him on occasion.

I never heard back after I shipped the Bobuino (sounds Italian, eh!), I think we looked up that it was delivered okay, and I think before hurricane Irene damaged a good number of Vermont's roads and bridges.

Terry, at Genova on september 13, is there this event www.gmee2011.it

maybe it is interesting for you
bie

*Robert: You get around!! I received the RobertDuino OK but I was packing and now it is on the shelf here but no time yet to play :0
Nice looking board! And good docs...

I only have what I was able to bring in luggage from USA, so no test equipment etc. yet...

*Testato: Grazie for the pointer! I will try to go to this event. I hope to meet other Engineers and find out more about what is happening in Genova area..

Just a question: why did you come in Italy? Work? Travel? A new live experience? XD
