Hi! Welcome do the Forum.

Meanwhile, is there any specific reason why you want to "burn the bootloader"? Even Uno clone boards already have the bootloader into them off the shelf, together with the blink sketch (blinks the builtin LED in a 1 sec on/ 1 sec off pattern when you power the board).

i want to get a custom firmware on it and i am using xloader but it keeps failing and no matter what i do i cant get it to dfu, instead i wont be able to acces port

The first thing I'd check is whether you have something else accessing that port. Serial monitor, serial plotter, another terminal program...

That's not the expected output of burning a bootloader but indicates a compilation of a sketch.

So please tell us if you're trying to burn a bootloader or if you're trying to upload a sketch.

  1. Which board? What is the serial-to-usb converter on that board?
  2. Is COM3 indeed the correct port? Does it disappear from the IDE and Windows device manager if you disconnect the board?
  3. Which version of the IDE?

how
