Hi,
I'm using an Arduino Mega 2560 for my project. It was mainly used to collect data from different sensors. The sensors include 4 encoders (TRD-N360-RZVWD), four hydraulic pressure sensors (SPI01 from Parker) and one Mti-30. Four external interrupts were used to read the signals from encoders, four analog pins were used to read the signals from pressure sensors and one rx pin was used to receive the serial data (converted to TTL) via serial port 2 from the mti-30. All the sensors except mti-30 was powered by external power supply. The mti-30 was powered by the 5v on Mega. The data collected were sent to PC using one USB cable through serial port 0. Mega was powered by USB cable only.
Yesterday, I tried to collect some data, everything worked well at beginning. But after like 30mins, the serial communication stopped and I found that the SMD EMI Suppression Ferrite Bead on the board (L1, blm21 on the schematic drawing) was burnt. If I connect the USB cable again, the ON led on the Mega will still light up but the serial port0 will not be recognized by PC.
Can anyone explain to me what made the SMD EMI Suppression Ferrite Bead burnt?
P.S.: Really sorry for the post without content. I was writing the post and I think I pressed the wrong key and it was submitted.
