Buying Sensors/Reading Sensors

Hi all,

I am new to arduino and am about to buy one for the first time but I have a quick question. I am in this for the long run so I am planning on buying a starter kit and some sensors. I came across this Recommendations For You - DealeXtreme . My question is,
if I buy these sensors, how do I read them? Is there a certain place I could find some general code? Some of them I googled and I could find code but I am wondering if there is some general code to read analog sensors.

Thank you in advance for your replies,

Tayshun

Check out ARDX – Arduino Expermentation Kit « .:oomlout:..

They have a few of the projects that your sensor pack has. Plenty of sketch code

It's a good price for that many sensors. But there is no documentation how to use them. If you are wanting to try out a bunch of stuff, then this sounds good. If you just want to try out out the Arduino, and not sure if you can handle the code or electronics, then maybe you should just pick out something easy first, like maybe a stepper motor shield or just a few LED's.

I think offers like this will be around for a while.

Thank you for the replies! After reading some of the code on that website, I realize that there are methods for assigning duties to the pins such as INPUT and OUTPUT. Seeing that was a big help in me understanding the syntax of how the software interacts with the hardware. I am going to buy a beginners pack online and that kit so I can use it when I am ready. Are their any kits that you would recommend for a starter?

I was very happy with this kit. It was my introduction to Arduino.

$85 seems high for what is included in the Adafruit MetroX Classic Kit - Experimentation Kit for Metro 328 : ID 170 : $84.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits kit. You should be able to get the components for far less than that, and with so much free documentation on the web, the info that is included is not a big deal, but it looks like it would get you up and running, at least there is documentation for the projects you can build with it.
