Maybe.
One would think so - calculators run from little tiny batteries.
On the other hand "Maybe" is right on - do you have any schematic, pinout, info on how the display is likely multiplexed? Have any tools for debugging with?
It's much easier to spend some money on a matrix LCD with known data sheets and library support than to tinker with a calculator LCD with no data sheets even if the calculator LCD is free. Your time counts as something, so is your frustration. I tried a couple times and gave up reusing LCDs from commercial products.
