Came on forum to ask these two questions

hello!Hope you are well.
I just bought a Elegoo TFT 2.8" display last week, and i know the basics.
Q1:My son really likes minecraft, is it possible to make some GUI to "recreate" minecraft?
Q2:My son also likes painting. I saw a few examples of "Paint"on tft, but they have very few colors.Could you possibly expand the range of colors?

Thanks a ton!

Welcome @arduino_fan89522_89522

I suspect that your biggest hurdle will be to work around the limited amount of memory (RAM) in your microcontroller when you want to do graphics.

If you provide a link for a "paint" example that you found, somebody might want to have a look.

Absolutely! Its a file, but will link raw code below:

// Paint example specifically for the TFTLCD breakout board.
// If using the Arduino shield, use the tftpaint_shield.pde sketch instead!

Maybe add these in code?
Thank you a TON @sterretje !!!

You can make a pallette with many many colours.
In principle 2^16 colours, but not all will be different for the human eye.
You are supposed to change the code yourself. We are here to help.
Start with the library example paint sketch.
Get it working. If you have troubles, then ask here.
Once it works, find where the 5 colour pallette is made and add a few more colors... you will need to change the screen layout an als adjust the pencil position reading, and the translation of the pencil position to the corresponding color.
All can be done.
Minesweeper could also be done, but would be more complicated (unless you find a working example).

I tried to upload, but got this error.
avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\.\COM6": The system cannot find the file specified

Does COM6 disappear from the IDE when you disconnect your board?

Which board are you using? Uno, Mega, ...

It is recommendable to upload the blink sketch first.
It does not need any wiring and should blink the builtin LED after uploading.
So basically it should always work after successful upload. And will help you tackle one problem at a time (like getting upload to work first...).

Rather than using a fixed palette, you could use three 'slider' controls to control the Red, Green. and Blue values directly. Red and Blue use 5 bits (32 options) each and Green has 6 bits (64 options). That would allow selection of any of the possible 65536 colors.

no it dosent, its not. when i go to ports, it is grey(i cant click it);
I am using a UNO r3
now when i connect it to the computer, it dosent show up in device manager.

In that case your board is not recognised. Did it work before? Was the TFT shield connected?
If yes to both, disconnect the Uno, remove the TFT shield, connect the Uno and try again to upload.

What does Windows device manager think of your board? Anything with a yellow triangle under Ports or Universal Serial Bus Controllers?

Please post a link to the exact Uno that you bought.
Please post a link to the exact shield that you bought.

I doubt it, however the Raspberry Pi can display and even interact with Minecraft programatically.

I hope you did not try and connect your shield to your Arduino when it was powered up.
