Camera control

first project patience please. Im makinhg a board to control my canon550d.all going well I need to control my Vivatar 283 seperatly to the camera but tied to the camera sequence..The volts on the 283 seem to vary arround 400v dc.Ive tried useing
scr`s to do this but seem to get intermittent responce.Any help appreaciated .

I've got a couple of 283s, one with a trigger voltage of around 180V, the other only about 6V.

I use MOC3020 to trigger them. Very easy to drive, I haven't played with them for a while, but drive them as a LED, and a pulse of as short as one microsecond will trigger the output.
