I am interested in having high quality live video streaming in a robot or drone project similar to what some of higher end drones are capable of. Based on the forums it sounds like I need a wifi camera to accomplish this since the Arduino boards are not designed for this purpose. Does anyone have suggestions on a camera to use for this type of project? I would need to stream to my custom Android application and the camera would need to be relatively small (Similar to the size you see on the Parrot drone for example).
Look at these SkyVipers from ToysRUs
They stream to your cell phone
Put your phone on the included bracket on the remote control for first person view. I don't fly well enough to take advantage of it, thumbs won't do what I want them to do!
I can give you a set of my personal experience of what exactly do you need.
You can use a small camera high quality 720p or 1080p or even using a GoPro.
You can use a 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz FPV set Transmitter and Receiver 200mW, 500mW, 1000mW
depends on your range from 500meters to 2~5Km or with a custom antenna up to 10Km range.

And the final part which you need for your project is
EasyCAP which gives you the posibility to get live video on your android device
Looks some videos on youtube, you need to buy a specific number chip EasyCap and as well you need
to buy the EasyCap android software or find a free one there is on playstore.
With all that components you can easy see live video from your robot/drone using an android
device and recording your video or using it with your custom software for your needs.

Thanks, that helps. It gives me a good place to get started.
I am a big fan of the GoPro Hero session camera. We use them for POV physics experiments.
Thanks, that helps. It gives me a good place to get started.
Glad to help.
