Camera with arduino

Can we interface a serial camera with Arduino and send them over some wireless network such as xbee or gprs?
I am new to this. I dont have much idea about networking. Thank you.

Yes, if you make the image smaller only 15k it only takes about 1s with XBee.

Drop the arduino and use an IP cam.

Ah but then you are limited to the Wifi range of the camera?

Why does it need to be under 15k. You could use external SPI sram and get a larger image.

If you get a pair of Ubiquiti Bullets and hardwire the IP camera to them, "wifi range" is about 50km.

There is no need for extra RAM to make the image larger, it simply takes longer to send it. You'd be lucky to get 5 miles with those units at a cost of $160. Another $100 for directional antennas. The speed will be slow and unreliable. They are line of sight without any trees in the way. If speed is not a concern GPRS is the way to go. Why not 4G Mifi?
