can a IIC I2C Level convertor be used with ESP8266 -01 or ESP-201 modules?

Hi,

can the IIC I2C Logic Level Converter Sensor Module 5V To 3V be used as a level converter for the ESP8266 modules?

The IIC I2C Logic Level Converter is the same as the ones here:
http://www.amazon.com/Logic-Converter-Sensor-Module-Arduino/dp/B00NN6EGZS
and
http://www.dx.com/p/iic-i2c-level-conversion-module-compatible-with-3-5v-system-sensor-blue-197198#.VJroqV4Aw

the ESP8266-01 module is the same as:
https://www.tindie.com/products/azide0x37/esp8266-arduino-compatable-serial-wifi-module-80211-bgn/

The ESP8266 ESP-201 is this one (sorry, can't find an English site)

The level shifters for I2C don't set the signal high, the pullup resistors are used to make the signal high, and that is slow. I think it will be too slow for SPI.
This page uses a I2C level shifter for SPI, so it might work : https://learn.sparkfun.com/tutorials/using-the-logic-level-converter
