Can a TFT LCD accept a video out signal as a input?

I want to use a small 1.5 or 2" LCD to show the video from a simple video out cable (signal and ground) Is there a very small/thin LCD on the market that will let me do this? If not what do I need to convert the signal? Doesn't have to be TFT, just has to be thin and under 2"

I am trying to make a viewfinder for a camera that only has a video out output.

You need more than LCD screen, some composite video decoder chips PAL / NTSC
Better to buy pocket size TV or monitor (w/o RF receiver), which included all this parts.
Just an example:

Hmm I need something smaller than that as I want to insert the LCD (view finder) into the camera case I am building. Don't want it to be too bulky. Should be about yey thin = http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/v0/218037684/TFT_LCD_Module.jpg

Is there a place to buy the decoder chip separately? (hopefully miniature) and connect everything or is it too complex for a novice.

Your picture looks like a car seat-back LCD monitor, with CFL backlight (?).
That's quite a big display and controller board - are you sure it doesn't have a composite input?

I'd say with near certainty that if you're asking the question, then the job is too difficult.

I'd go with the pocket TV idea.
