CAN BUS SHIELD IN CAR PROBLEM

Hey, trying to get information through can bus shield from my golf IV. i am using elecfreaks can bus shield and arduino uno r3. its connected by OBD 2 - SERIAL cable to arduino. when i simply connect i just get error that it fails to initialize(using random script from internet). but when i touch pins of arduino CPU it connects to the car and gets random numbers. any ideas?

Hi,
Have you got Gnd of arduino connected to gnd of vehicle, this should be happening through the shield and OBD cable.

Hm... thats interesting idea. worth trying. how can i do that? just connect cable to my shields GND point, to vehicles body?
