Can disconnect and connect your arduino while powered damage it in anyway?

I use to work with complex projects that need to be tested and changed every minute and I have to connect and disconnect some wires repeatedly, is there a way of damaging my Arduino while doing this?

Yes, there is a big risk. If a pin is defined as an output, and is ready to deliver current, expecting a current limiting resistor/circuit, and you connect it to ground, you can damage the pin. There are other combinations of input to input, input to output, and output to input that can cause grief.

In short, hot swapping is a bad idea.

Actually a more common means of damage is disconnecting power from the Arduino while other parts of the circuit are still powered. This can burn out input pins surprisingly quickly.

Bad if you don’t know what you are doing. If you do know then you know what you can and can’t hot wire, but then you wouldn’t need to ask the question.
