Can I control inverter ( schneider ATV312) by arduino?

Dear all,
I want to cotrol the Inverter ATV312 of Schneider with Modbus by arduino. But It possible?
Manual: Schneider Electric Global | Global Specialist in Energy Management and Automation
Manual with modbus: http://www.sia.by/sites/default/files/docs/se2/se2-5/ATV312_Modbus_EN_V1_20090424.pdf
Thanks so much. I'm Vietnamese, My English ability is very bad. ^-^.

Yes, you can but you need additional hardware (RS-485 driver) and depending on the functionality you expect from the Arduino you may need a special type of Arduino. If you want your Arduino to be still connected to your PC while controlling the inverter you need a free hardware serial (no, SoftwareSerial will not work, at least not if you expect minimal reliability), so a Leonardo or Mega2560 is a must.

Correctly terminate your bus and check that the idle level is in a controlled state (might need leveling resistors). Don't just buy the cheapest RS-485 module you get as the above parameters might not be available for variation on many cheap models.

There are a lot of ModBus libraries out there but only a few of them work reliably and not every library is suitable for every need. So specify what exactly you plan to do with your Arduino.
