Can I replace expression pedal potentiometer to light sensor?

Hi, I'm not an electrician and I don't know much about arduino

All I want is to replace my Expression pedal potentiometer with an optical sensor or something else
I want it to work withot external power so It must be analog As is the case with most Expression pedals

Is this possible or not? if yes..... What exactly do I need to do that? I have good experience in welding and I like to rely on myself in such matters

And how can I control the required voltage and offset it if necessary in order to get the rang I want?

note: I am talking about Expression pedal for keyboards.

small solar element and pedal shutter and of coarse light source.
but why? and, are sure your keyboard allow such change?

Is this what you are asking for?

Thank you but what exactly solar element uses for in my case?

Thank you
I'm not an electrical engineer so i don't know what all those symbol means
except LDR
Light depending resistor sensor If I'm not mistaken
yes maybe something like that

What exactly do I need?
Just ldr sensor? Connect it to trs cable directly?

Sorry to bother you with all these questions.

The potentiometer has three legs, just like the drawing shows. Next to it is a light dependant resistor and a standard resistor configured as a voltage divider. You could almost just replace the potentiometer with two devices, but you probably need to mount the LDR somewhere external and run two wires to/from it.

You will also need to find out what value the potentiometer is, to be able to specify what LDR and value of resistor you need.

Thank you again timinelmira
The potentiometer value is b100K
Do you have a link that explains srep by step
?

No. That's just one of those things you learn by doing. You'll also have to spend some time finding the right LDR (they each have ratings and values that need to be considered). I expect for your application the resistor will be something like 100R (100 ohms).
