Hi,

I want to build a retropie handheld, similar to the one on the adafruit homepage.

The powerboost and lipo charger are quite expensive and difficult to buy in germany though. I was looking on ebay for something similiar and found cheap chinese versions. They are not exactly the same, so before i make a mistake i just wanted to confirm with you guys.

I want to replace this

do you think that its gonna work? I was wondering especially because the step up converter is for 500mA and the charger for 1A.

As long as you are not overcharging the battery with too much current, and the boost converter can handle the current that you will be drawing, you should be fine. The converter is apparently for 1.5V in, and a LiPo single cell is 3.7-4.2V.
