I'm trying to run an LCD screen with an Arduino. The screen I'm trying to use came from a variable frequency (FREQ) drive, and I've been unable to find a datasheet for it. The screen was originally docked into a board with an Atmel ATMEGA169P. I'd like to just drive the LCD, without using the existing board. Is this possible?
Hi, yes it is possible. The question is, is it worth it when you can cheaply buy 20x4 lcds with known pinouts and Arduino libraries to make using them easy?
20 pin connectors are common. Are there any labels next to the pins? Can you post a well lit well focussed close-up picture?
Because I had the FREQ drive with a perfectly good LCD. Taking apart old electronics is a cheap way to get components to learn on. As for the picture, yes I will post one as soon as I get the chance.
A Variable Frequency drive is basically a microprocessor-controlled pulse-width modulation power supply. In this case, it was used to run a pump.
