Hi! I am currently making a custome pcb shield for the arduino uno r4 wifi, a hand held gaming console. I want to be able to upload the code through the shield with the arduino IDE. The esp32 s3 mini on the r4 is what's the bridge between the usb c port and the IC right? Can I upload my code through the exposed pins for the esp (or be able to upload code from any other pins?). I have looked into uploading through ICSP but what I could gather, that removes the boot loader, and that to me feals preaty non user friendly to restore for the avrage user.
Any advice for how to upload the code
Welcome to the forum
Why can't you upload the code through the USB port as normal ?

I want everything to be through one port. I first thought about making just a singel pcb with the arduino built in. But I realised that it would be easier to make a sort of shield shat I could just slot on onto the arduino. I can upload through the usb c on the arduino but it isn't flush with the case i have designed. I would need some sort of extention and there would be two ports on the outside.
I have decided to move away from the r4. Instead I will imtegrate a esp32 s3 directly on the pcb. No furthur advice is needed. Thnak you!
