Can I use these lacquered jewelry wires for soldering?

In the past I've been using these 0.1mm lacquered wires when I had to solder something that required incredibly thin wires.

But it happens very often that I need lightly thicker wires (maybe 0.3 - 1.0mm). In those cases I always had to twist a bunch or 0.1mm wires together which was really annoying.
In addition to that it always annoyed me that I only had one color to choose from.

So what I'm looking for are lacquered wires that work well for soldering (i.e. the lcquer has to evaporate when it touches melted solder), that are preferably available in 0.3mm, 0.5mm and 1.0mm and if possible also available in the colors red and black.

So I was looking for just that on aliexpress, but I'm having a hard time finding anything that is advertised for soldering. I only found a bunch of offers like this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32785207341.html
but I'm not even sure if these are even made out of metal.

I also found these:

Has anyone of you tried soldering with those or knows if it would work?

Search for "coil winding wire" or "Enamelled Copper Wire" on Aliexpress.

Usually the colored wires are either aluminum or steel. Both won't solder very well without special solder. I would recommend that you go shopping for "grade 1 magnet wire" on your usual supplier (eBay/Aliexpress to mention a few)

// Per.

Thanks, searching for "Enamelled Copper Wire" I can find them in different diameters now. But I can't find them in red and black. Only copper or silver.

"grade 1 magnet wire" doesn't yield any relevant results.

I know you asked for enameled wire however, have you considered wire wrap wire? It comes in the diameters you mentioned. However it is insulated (very thin insulation) and must be stripped.

But it does meet at least two of your criteria: colors and different diameters.

I've been using this prototyping wire and have use it it a lot in conjunction with double sided 0.1" prototype boards.

I tend to prepare many pieces in advance. Cut them to length (say 8cm). With a very hot tinned soldering iron, trap the last say 5 mm between the iron and some card, and draw slowly to remove the insulation and tin the end. Repeat this for all ends. I use sharp pointed tweezers to wrap component pins and leads with the tinned ends of the the wire and solder them in place.

I don't believe that general "magnet wire" is suitable as hook up wire because of the melting point of the insulation. Ensure that any such wire is somehow described as "solderable"

You have to know which metal the wires made of and how its coloured. Some metals do not solder at all. Certain coloured coatings will prevent soldering and will need abrading away.

Go for enamelled copper wire, aka "magnet wire". Its available in all sizes.

Try these -wide assortment of colors and thicknesses: are https://www.firemountaingems.com/shop/zebra_wire-copper-wire_wrapping_wire.
They claim to be copper. Fire mountain gems is highly regarded in there own segment of “making”

My go to prototyping wire is Kynar insulated 30AWG wire wrap wire.
