Can we replace GSM module (SIM800L) with a GSM Mobile phone?

Is it possible to make a call using Mobile phone Rx Tx pins or operate GSm mobile with Arduino Rx Tx pins using some serials commands? just like we are using a GSM module(eg SIM800L) to send and receive messages and calls using Arduino Serial monitor.
