Cannot compile empty program with new board (Mac)

I install IDE on Mac OS 14.6.1. Default latest version today -- nothing special.
I connect board over USB C (empty program appears).
I try to compile -- error occurs.

/private/var/folders/_9/pjx4xrms2gd2wjgdk4ds8kkc0000gn/T/AppTranslocation/05C8513B-CF20-44A2-A63A-A0CBE1DAE3E5/d/Arduino.app/Contents/Java/arduino-builder returned 139

Error compiling for board Arduino Yún.

The empty program, for reference:

void setup() {
  // put your setup code here, to run once:

}

void loop() {
  // put your main code here, to run repeatedly:

}

This is the same problem others have had: Error messages on Mac But I hope I have included enough information to get more helpful responses than poor johnnycass got.

Just fix your situation the same way Johnny did.

I don't know anything about Macs.

Sounds like IDE 1.x. Which version?

I'm not telling / forcing you to switch to a more modern version. You might have very good reasons to use the older (and no longer supported) version of the IDE (I do). But if you don't have a very good reason, switching to IDE 2.x might be a solution.
