Cannot connect Mac to board

I am using MacOS Yosemite 10.10.5.
I am using an Arduino Nano 3.0 with an ATmega328 chip.

I was able to communicate and do things and program on a windows 10 device, but now I want to connect it to my mac and it is giving me an error: it cannot find a com port equivalent.
I loaded the FTDI driver to create a virtual com, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Help please!

What USB-to-Serial chip does your Arduino Nano have? Common choices are:
ATMEL MEGA16U2 (Official Arduino UNO/MEGA and some clones)
FTDI FT232RL (Official Arduino Nano and most older clones)
WCH CH340G (Most newer clones)
