I have searched for a while but no one seems to have the same problem i am facing. i was able to find my arduino (arduino UNO) in the device manager before i downloaded IDE and drivers. It said it was not operational and unknown so i assumed i just needed to download the drivers, which i did for windows 10. after downloading the drivers and IDE, the arduino no longer pops up in the device manager. I tried different cables and it changed nothing. i tried another computer without the drivers and i had the same thing on that computer as i did on mine before i downloaded the software. i am at a loss and any advice would be appreciated. thank you!
In windows 10 the COM & LPT ports may be hidden.
Make sure you use SHOW HIDDEN DEVICES to see that section if it is not available to you in regular view.
Which drivers and from where ?

Thank you for your reply. I did read the intro to using this forum, i don't have much material to post. After trying it on four different computers i decided that i may have accidentally fried the device or it was fried before i got it (it wasn't new) and ordered a new one. Hoping this is the issue.
