Cannot run arduino IDE on apple silicon mac

Hi,

I recently got a new M2 Macbook Air and tried to install Arduino IDE. However, every time I download it and try to run it, it says that the download had an issue (because of internet connection). I have checked several times and my internet connection is just fine. Is there a problem with Arduino IDE running on Apple Silicon macs? Does it run at all?

Thank you very much,
Francisco

Hi @francgonc.

Which version of the Arduino IDE did you download?

Where did you download it from?

Please post the full and exact text of the error message.

I can tell you that there is absolutely no problem with the M1 because several of the members of the team developing the Arduino IDE are using these machines. And of course many members of the Arduino community are doing the same.

I haven't heard anything about M2, but my understanding is that the Apple Rosetta 2 software will provide compatibility just as it does for the M1 (the IDE and tools are currently only built for macOS x86-64 architecture).

Actually, it was just a bug in the software, once I updated it, it all worked fine.

I'm glad it is working now.

Enjoy! Per
