Cannot select text when composing on iphone

My posts are split roughly equally between my windows PC and my iPhone. But a serious problem has arisen when using the iPhone recently . It is confined to this forum. When typing on other web sites or in any other apps it does not occur.

For example if I try to select the phrase ‘confined to this forum’, once I have made some initial selection, as shown in my screenshot’ I cannot then drag its start or end points to change the selection.

This post has taken half an hour to compose!

Any other iPhone users getting same please?

Yes, I started having issues too with selecting specific text on my iPhone too in the forum but now it seems to work again

it worked fine in other apps on the iPhone

Same here on Android (circa 2015) running Chrome. I find I must avoid moving the "select" pins faster than the "quote" box can move out of the way or the "select" goes all over the page.

IPhone16 Pro (what else ? :wink: ) and latest shipping OS version, with Safari.

My ageing IPhone 13 Pro is running iOS 18.1.1, with Safari.
Can you identify the cause of the return to normal behaviour in your case?

Interestingly I just tried my iPad, which is at least as old, and happily that does not have the problem. FWIW it’s iPadOS 16.7.10.

Hope to hear from one of the Web site gurus, because I really would like to continue using the iPhone on the forum.

No it’s unclear what happened and I have the issue again this morning - may be I spoke too fast yesterday.

I can select text when not editing but it’s broken when typing in…

So it’s broken indeed.

Well, this morning I can extend my selections normally!

Duh - but then realised I’m using my iPad :slightly_smiling_face:

Looks not! I suppose because this is a pretty quiet section of the forum? And/or only three of us have reported the issue, which surprises me.
