CANopen interface

My project is to take CANopen inclinometer angles from a tilt sensor, convert to simple serial ASCII angle data and output to a serial port.

I’ve got a Sparkfun CANbus shield and a MCP2515 CAN Bus Interface.

So far all I’ve been able to achive is to get the Arduino (Uno) to confirm that it can sense the shield but that’s about it. I can’t even get a serial.print of the raw data from the shield.

Has anyone else had any success interfacing Arduino/Serial/CANopen? I’d appreciate any suggestions or jump-starts because right now, I’ve achieved basically zero.

Is CANopen that much different to normal CANbus?

What device are you trying to read from?
Do you know its speed?

Can you post the code you are using please?

Can you please post a copy of your circuit, in CAD or a picture of a hand drawn circuit in jpg, png?
