Can't create folders in Sketchbook anymore

Whenever I create a new folder and navigate away, the folder is gone when I log back on. I discovered I could make it stay by immediately adding a new sketch, but I still can't do normal things like move other folders to it.

Plus, any folder I create within the new folder then reverts back to what I'll call the "root" level of the Sketchbook after I try to add a new sketch to it.

Can someone please explain this bizarre behavior?

FYI: Win 7 Pro, SP1, running Chrome

There are limitations with folder nests on CREATE.
IIRC max depth is 3 to root.

Also as you have noticed it will not hold an empty folder.
All folders must contain something.

This is also true for libraries as well which means that some must be streamlined.

Once you reach the max folder depth any additional folders will be discarded between browser refreshes and that may also include saves and uploads.

Adding some light reading which might help.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll take a look at what you sent. But the web editor is not even letting me go to 2 deep.

So I have two folders of sketches from a while back. Related, but different enough to warrant their own subfolder. Create new "related" folder. Move both folders into "related". I can see that they're actually there in the tree structure.

Exit and log back on, and they're back at root level, and "related" is gone.

Try again after I get "related" to stay by adding a dummy sketch. Same process, same outcome, except "related" no longer disappears.

Try adding a dummy sketch in one of the subfolders after the same process, hoping that will make it stay put. the Sketchbook adds a duplicate of the subfolder at the root level and adds the sketch to that. Leave, return, subfolder is back at root level with the new sketch.

Maybe you could try a bit of what I did and see if you get the same results. Really confusing.

I am one of the many testers for Create and I should have included root as the primary layer / depth counting as a folder (simplified)

In reality you are not actually making a folder it just looks that way.
What you are creating is a tombstone marker to link to the next file/files in that chain.

There was talk of trying to increase the folder depth but they have a massive list of other items to get through with higher priorities.

You could add your thoughts to the wish list thread so it is at least logged.

I tend to do simple versioning with sketches that are related by re-save with V2, V3 etc. at the end of the name so at least they are grouped somewhat.

So in the end its more of a CHAIN than folder nests.

Thanks for the info. I'll just keep things simple then.
