I just bought Arduino starter kit and I am complete beginner with it. Unfortunately my first problem is that I can't download Arduino 1.6.3 IDE. Browser just says 403 Forbidden.
I am not able to download the Arduino IDE (18 Oct 2018). My steps are:
go to arduino software site, click on windows 10 app
Asked to contribute, 'Just Download'
At Microsoft site, I'm asked for my microsoft account login (microsoft will search based on email) - I've provided two different emails (both from skype accounts) and am sent the security code within a couple minutes.
On the microsoft site, after carefully entering the security code, I get the screen asking for my microsoft account again (endless loop). No option for support or resolution.
A co-worker told me of a similar experience, except he had to create a new microsoft account and they wanted his credit card info, etc which caused him to self-abort the process and use the online arduino.
The workaround is to NOT ask for the windows 10 app, but rather download the zip file.
Thankyou Microsoft for your 'wonderful' contribution to open source! I was looking to update the Arduino IDE on windows due to occasional high cpu load caused by the arduino ide (my version is about 5 months old)
This is how I did it on 3 different computers, and seemed much simpler than dealing with microsoft. I honestly don't understand why everyone wants the app. I decided not to get the app because I read the app had a common issue that the shortcut (for the IDE file) didn't.
