I just installed the IDE version 2.0.3, and downloaded the data for all the old processors I have lying around. For two of them the IDE never find a port. Of these is the XIAO, and the other is the TTGO development board, T1. Any suggestions?
I know nothing about the XIAO board, but I have recently used IDE 2.0.3 on both the TTGO T-display and the TTGO T-display S3. Here they use COM7 and COM8 respectively, on Windows 10.
IDK where to direct you from here, but I do know it works for me.
Hi @jrdoner. Which operating system are you using (e.g., "Windows")?
I ask because I would like to request you to provide some additional information and I want to give you the appropriate instructions for your operating system.
OK, unfortunately I am not very familiar with macOS and don't have access to a Mac machine right now so please forgive me if my instructions are vague or slightly off. If anyone here knows macOS feel free to jump in.
What I would like you to check is whether or not the board is detected by the system. This will allow us to determine whether the problem is specific to Arduino IDE or if it is universal. If the system can't see the ports then trying to troubleshoot Arduino IDE would be a waste of time.
In Windows, we would use "Device Manager" for this purpose. It looks like the equivalent on macOS is "System Information".
Please try this procedure to troubleshoot the problem:
NOTE: These instructions will not solve the problem. They are only intended to gather more information which might provide a clue that eventually leads to a solution.
Unplug the USB cable of your Arduino board from your computer if it is currently connected.
Click the Apple logo on the left side of the menu bar at the top of the screen ("Apple menu").
Select "System Settings..." from the menu.
A "System Settings" window will open. Click "General" in the menu on the left side of the window. ⓘ You may need to scroll the menu down to see "General".
Click "About" on the panel at the right side of the "System Settings" window.
The "About" panel will open. Click the "System Report..." button at the bottom of the panel.
The "System Information" window will now open. Select Hardware > USB from the tree on the left side of the window.
Take note of the contents of the "USB Device Tree" panel of the "System Information" window.
Plug the USB cable of your Arduino board into your computer.
Select File > Refresh Information from the menu bar.
Do you see any new device appear in the the the "USB Device Tree" panel of the "System Information" window after doing the last step?
