I have made 2 devices before that have a USB/ttl converter, a 328 chip, and a 433Mhz transmitter, to send data to a remote dislay.
I have to work with the existing data coming from the PC.
On the previous 2 units, I could test them using the Bray Terminal, by sending (2)(32)123456(3) which evidently is "start of text", space , 6 numbers and "end of text."
The previous usb/ttl converters had lower port numbers than the 68 that this new one has, and for some reason, Terminal will not detect it. If I type in 68 and try to connect, it tells me port not available, but if I get it to list the ports, it is there along with port 1 ?
Do the port numbers not reach 68 on Terminal ?
I have tried some other terminals, but I know I battled to get the command right before, and I think the brackets are for Bray Terminal only ?
Is there a command I can type in the ide terminal?
I am using XP, I have also just noticed that Brays original version of Terminal only went up to port4 .
When I click on advanced, it comes up with advanced settings for port 68, and a whole list of ports , all in use right up to 68 !!!
I had some usb extenders attached at some time, when I look at usb devices it lists loads of them:-
8 root hubs, 5 Intel USB Universal Host Controllers ( from 27C8 to 27CC ). and 3 VIA host controllers .
Is there a way to get it to refresh?
My normal usb devices are
keyboard
mouse
scope
WiFi dongle
printer
and I have a couple of free sockets that I plug Arduinos, cameras, memory sticks, etc in to, that are connected to a USB card on the back.
I tried " scan for hardware changes" but it still comes up with the same list
OK, I have muscled it onto port 15, and it works with Terminal now, thanks.
Thank You, Good Stuff to know... Laptops with Windows XP are frequently found for free in Southern California..
I have about 6 that I've rescued and hell, Free is Free.. Especially for the IDE and the programmers... nothing that can benefit from any speed increase.. It takes as long to load/program a chip on a 1.6 GHZ 32 bit XP laptop as it does on my 3.9 GHz 64 bit AMD FX6100

"Laptops with Windows XP are frequently found for free in Southern California.." and it never rains there
I want to upgrade my laptop to 1.6 GHz when I can afford it , but we have to pay for even old slow ones here
