Can't install Arduino IDE 2.1.0 onto Big Sur 11.6

I can't get beyond this error message:

"this application isn't supported on this Mac"

please, help!

moved to IDE 2.x category... seems more appropriate than IDE 1.x...

Hi @gingerred.

Is that the exact error message? I ask because I only got one result, which was not at all relevant, when I googled it.

Unfortunately the oldest macOS version I can create a virtual machine for on my Mac M1 is Monterrey so I can't check whether there is some problem specific to Big Sur. But this is the first report I have seen of the error and I'm certain many people have already installed 2.1.0 on machines running Big Sur so I'm doubtful that it could be a universal loss of compatibility with that version of macOS.

Thanks,

Thats the error dialog box I get when I attempted to install it. It downloaded fine, but the initial icon had the big circle with the slash overlaying it.

I'm still at a loss.
