Can't open serial port while IDE open

I'm new here so not sure if this is the right forum to post my question, so please don't get angry :wink:

I would like to use putty for serial communication with my arduino (duemilanove). But I can't open the COM-port while the IDE is running.
I can use the "Serial Monitor" wich comes with the IDE.

Is there a way to use Putty without closing the IDE?

That is odd because I can open the serial port with other applications with the IDE open but not the serial monitor running. Mind you I am on a Mac, it could be a Windows issue.

Yes, Same with windows, but not the serial monitor running.

Hmm I reinstalled the latests FTDI drivers and did a reboot.
Seems to be working :slight_smile:
