Cant run IDE software?

Hi all.

I am new to Arduino, so be gentle.

I have downloaded the latest version of the IDE from this web site, since I did this I cannot get the software page to open up. When I click on the Desktop ICON, up pops the Arduino Logo, the status bar goes through Initiating etc. it gets to starting, then it seems to stall for a few seconds then it dissapears from my screen, with no sketch page showing.

Help please to correct this situation of mine

I had the same problem with Win 7 64 bit. The solution for me was to delete the C:\User{user name}\AppData\Roaming\Arduino15 folder and reinstall the IDE. If you have made modifications to your boards.txt/platform.txt/programmers.txt files or anything else in the folder then back them up first.
