Can't seem to get it to work on Windows 7 64x

I've read the other fourm about downloading the drivers from here:

http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

however, I don't know how in the world to install the drivers so Windows will recognize it. I tried updating the driver then selecting the folder ect. Windows can't seem to find it.

My problem is that I can't select my serial port. So i looked into it and it stated that it was my Drivers.

I've been longing for an arduino to Mess around with and now that i have an uno I can't even use it!

Very sad =[

Any help?

Thanks in advanced!!

You should follow the Getting Started guide: http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/Windows

I had the same problem...

Here's the solution:
Download the .rar from the link.
Extract it.
Connect Arduino to your PC.
Run CDM 2.04.16.exe
Check Device Manager, It should show USB Serial Port under COM PORTS.
Open Arduino IDE select the board and the COM PORT.

It worked for me.
Hope this helps.

No, it isn't.

What is the MAIN difference between Uno and Duemilanove?

As I said, Getting Started guide is useful (step 4, Install the drivers).

now that i have an uno

I was thinking that it was his first arduino...

...and just to confirm, if any otherone is following this thread, and is confused..........the Uno does not have a ftdi chip fitted, so installing drivers for that chip is not the answer if it is not being recognised when plugged into the USB port.
