Hi all, i have some PCBs i made for a project im working on. it uses ir emitters and receivers. for some reason, i can install the lcds, receivers, leds, switches, etc. but as soon as i solder the emitters to the pcb, i lose the function to upload and my pc will not recognize anything is plugged in at all. i cant select a port, nothing is under ports in device manager..... nothing. then if i unsolder the emitters, everything works perfectly. i checked the pcb schematic and everything seems like its going where it should. i even had someone else look at it. what could be causing this issue?
My guess is that you have something connected to pins 0 / 1
could the pcb have been built wrong? theres nothing in the schematic going to either of those pins
I cannot even find the pins on the schematic.
Wrong schematic, wrong wiring, wrong parts, correct parts installed backwards, short circuits, etc.
Hi, @slanman
Welcome to the forum.
Can you post jpg EXPORT images of your PCB?
Can you post a schematic of your project?
Thanks.. Tom...

perhaps we could see that?
If you have the emitter disconnected and you measure the voltages at the soldering points. Are the voltages as you expect them?
If you connect the emitter over probewires with inserted current measuring what current do you measure?
What is the current spec of the emitter?
From where is the emitter supplied?
