Can'tg connect board to the computer, not sure

I've just purchased a new Arduino mega 2560. The proper listing in the Arduino software is identified as Mega 2560 and the com port is checked as come 4. When I try to up load a program, the sketch is fine immediately followed by an error telling it can't communicate with the device with the last line stating failed to leave programming mode.

I have no idea what that means and have no idea if it's me or the board. Any suggestions?

Thanks but I finally figured it out, apparently a bad driver for the board. Once I up-laded another, the board started working just fine.
