There's a few GSM modules or arduino shields. I'm not familiar with them but there should be enough people to seek help if you get into problems. It's time to get your feet wet with some basic things. Your concept has no reason to NOT work.

The trouble is the coding of these is a lot more involved than Arduino and I would have no chance at the moment. The GSM side will definitely work but I am yet to be assured I can do all I need on the GSM side of things using Arduino. It dosent matter really though as I have bought the Arduino starter kit and will have fun doing the various projects etc :slight_smile:
