Capacitive Sensor

Hello,

Just a quick question in the Capacitive sensor page it mentioned 1nF to filter out 50 Hz noises; I am assuming this is because its plugged in a computer. My question is, since my Arduino is running on batteries do I still need it?

Thank you for reading

There is 50Hz all around you. Power lines are like antennas and so 50Hz radiates everywhere.

and so 50Hz radiates everywhere

But for some reason, it doesn't reach as far as the US. ::slight_smile:

Yes it does but the travel over the water distorts it terribly and it comes out as 60Hz.

Thank you for the info

wait.. forgive my ignorance but does that mean every country has different frequency radiation? If so will 1nf take care of it regardless if it was 60Hz or 50Hz?

Thanks

The world is divided in to countries that use 50Hz to distribute electricity and those that use 60Hz.

It is of no consistence to what you want to do or the components you will use.

We were just having a joke.

Ok got it  thank you again
