Hi, I'm trying to make a project that will be a smart plant pot which measures light, temperature, soil moisture content and tank water level. I have seen lots of capacitive soil sensors that go into the soil but I was wanting to have the sensor be external to the inner pot of the plant pot, so that the inner pot could be removed. I was thinking of two pieces of copper tape on the outside of the housing that would measure the capacitance between the pieces through the soil with varying water content. I am struggling to design a circuit that will allow this. Any help or suggestions would be great!
It sounds difficult. Could You draw a simple figure, givung dimensions etc?
