I have a car that i would like to make a simple display for to show some engine parameters.
The engine control unit sends the data over can bus.
What parts would i need to order to make a display for this car?

I would first get an OBD2-bluetooth adapter

For testing, connect your laptop to the said OBD2 via Bluetooth and see if you can read the data stream using a serial terminal like Putty.
Once you have that confirmed, you can now get an Arduino with a built-in display and Bluetooth (preferably) and start working on the code...
Car doesnt have obd, only can bus from engine controller
So you would need something like an Arduino CAN shield
I ordered an arduino uno with MCP2551 and nextion display.
Any example codes how i can read engine data from ecu can bus and send it serial to nextion display?
There are example codes specific for the MCP2551 and there are example codes specific for the Nextion. Maybe you can try each first and once you get comfortable with both, you can combine them...
