Hi I'm thinking about changing the screen in my car for lcd touch one + installing car pc. At the moment the VFD (as my car manual says) screen shows information from climate control, radio, fuel consumpion, temperature and clock. I don't want to loose those information. Is there any chance to use arduino to redirect this signal from vfd display to pc and then with the use of centrafuse to display it on the new touch screen? Thanks for any help. The only way to relay the information on it to an Arduino is to hook up a Logic Analyser and figure out the data sent to it, and then write a program that understands it. Maybe the display is using the CAN bus, so you just need a CAN shield for the arduino to hook into the display data. Get a wiring diagram for your car or take out the display to find out how this is made.
well basically this is diagram from my service manual.. next pages show description of what each connection do and pictures from logic analyzer with approximate values.. and i'm not sure if the display connects via can-bus... all i know it communicates with radio, multi function switch, combination meter, auto ac amp
