Casing/Box for Arduino

Hi,

I am planing to build a casing for my arduino BT. I know it is an unusual question, but I hope some people here have experience in building a case. I have a few questions regarding that.

  1. What material should the case me made of so that it does not interfere with the bluetooth communication? I know metal is bad, but is wood, plastic ok?

  2. I need a way to attach the back side of the arduino bord to the box. What is the easiest and cleanest way to do it so that I dont mess up the wiring on the back side? I am reluctant to putting screws either because I may accidentally damage some part. I am thinking of using an adhesive velcro. Any words of caution about that?

regards,

I would recommend using appropriate screws and risers, like those found attaching a motherboard to the case for a PC. You can search electronics suppliers such as Digikey, Mouser, or SparkFun. You would need to glue standoffs to your case... the best way would probably be to screw the screws into the standoffs through your arduino, and then put glue on the stadnoffs to attach to the case. Look at these for what might work: Standoffs Plastic - (4-40; 3/4"; 10 pack) - PRT-10462 - SparkFun Electronics

Wood and plastics should be just fine, and wont interfere with the BT connection.

Hope this helps.
